Tough loss for Clips in Game 2

MUSKEGON, MI – It was a tough middle game for the Clippers on Saturday night as they fell victim in a 14-1 loss to division rival Lima Locos. A contest that was competitive for seven innings fell apart in the 8th and 9th innings for Muskegon.

Zander Wills made his fourth start of the season and pitched well outside of a three-run first inning. Wills went five innings allowing three runs and struck out six.

The Clips got on the board in the third when Caden Thelen sent his sixth triple to the center field fence and drove in Justin St. Antoine.

The offense went quiet from there as they were unable to push across any more runs after the third.

Carson Merritt came on in relief for Muskegon and tossed a solid two innings before going out for the 8th and surrendering three earned runs. Michael Sime came in after Merritt and struck out two hitters. Kellan Payne also pitched for the Clips on Saturday but was only able to record one out.

The Locos went the second through the seventh innings, scoreless but tacked on four in the eighth and seven in the ninth.

St. Antoine, Kaden Howard, and Zane Wilson each recorded base hits to go along with Thelen’s pair of hits.

Clips will keep their heads up and look to take the series Sunday in a rubber match against the Locos with first pitch being scheduled for 5:05pm.
