Clippers Explode for 19 Runs vs Copperheads

ATHENS, OH – The Clippers are now winners of three of their last five games after a blowout victory on Tuesday night, 19-1 over the Southern Ohio Copperheads. Muskegon was able to score early and often in game one of this series, so when you're able to swing it well and couple it with phenomenal pitching like we saw, this Clippers team could go on a little run.

Chase Schwierking was the opener on Tuesday for the Clips and had his best outing of the season as he made his first start, allowing just three hits and no runs through five innings. Schwierking credited his slider after the game, mentioning that was the pitch he looked for when he was ahead in the count.

Through the lineup, you could pretty much point to any bat in the order, and they would have tallied at least a hit. Muskegon notched 17 total base hits in the win, including six extra-base hits.

It all started in the first when Muskegon was able to string together three straight doubles from Caden Thelen, Dalton Dick, and Justin St. Antione. They lit up the scoreboard with four early runs.

From there, the Clippers kept tacking on runs little by little throughout the middle innings.

The most production came off the bats of St. Antione, Meyers, and Cayden Nieto, as each of them tallied three hits apiece. St. Antione reached base a total of five times while also driving in four RBIs.

AJ Park, Josh Rosenblitt, and Jack Perry all came in relief for Muskegon. They combined for four innings on the mound, allowing just one run and striking out six.

The Copperheads went seven innings without scoring a run until they snagged one in the eighth, preventing a shutout.

The Clips and the Copperheads now set their sights on Wednesday, where they will play a doubleheader to close out the series.
