bounce back win in xenia
XENIA, OH – After a disappointing end of the series against the Mariners, the Clippers shined in all aspects of the game in Tuesday night’s 8-2 win over the Xenia Scouts. Muskegon struggled on the mound in Sunday’s loss, but they only needed to rely on one arm for eight innings in the game one win.
Andrew Pohlmann (SVSU) made his second start of the season and was incredible. Pohlmann tossed eight innings allowing just one run. The eight innings was double the length of the next best starter so far this season.
Pohlman gave the rest of the Clippers bullpen much needed rest after Muskegon used 15 total pitchers over the weekend.
Muskegon was able to flip two double plays on Tuesday, allowing Pohlman to work through much of the game with an efficient pitch count.
Offensively, it was a complete group effort. Several hitters tallied multiple hits, including Nolan Laskey and Justin St. Antione, among others.
Dalton Dick got the Clips on the board with an RBI single to begin the night. Laskey smoked a double that rolled to the wall soon after, driving in more Clipper runs. The first inning was capped off with a Sam Briggs single that also scored a run.
The Clips were able to muster four more runs throughout the rest of the game. Cayden Nieto, Ben Meyers, and Caden Thelen each picked up an RBI.
Brady Young came into the ninth relieving Pohlman and slammed the door with back-to-back punchouts to secure the win.
With the win, Muskegon snapped Xenia’s three-game winning streak and gave the Clips something to build on after a tough homestead.
Muskegon (3-3, 5-5) has two games left to play against the Scouts that will take place Wednesday and Thursday night.
