Blake Dunn Tears it up in Spring Training!

GOODYEAR, AZ – Every baseball fan can admit the winter months are dreadful, with snow on the diamond and meaningless offseason rumors surrounding their favorite MLB team. But with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp a few weeks ago, the excitement of Opening Day is inching closer. As for Cincinnati Reds outfielder and former Muskegon Clippers star Blake Dunn, through just 13 at-bats he’s displayed solid power early on. Dunn sent a 377-foot solo shot in the ninth inning against the Angels on February 27 and followed it up with a bases-clearing double that plated three runs in the very next game against the Brewers.

Dunn hails from Holland, just south of Muskegon, and graduated from Saugatuck High School before attending Western Michigan University. The now 27-year-old spent one season with the Clippers in 2019, where he boasted a .329 batting average across 146 at-bats and recorded 12 extra-base hits, including three home runs.

Selected in the 15th round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Reds, Dunn faced an uphill battle to make his major league debut. After playing just over 350 games in the minors and exceeding many expectations, Dunn got the nod every baseball player dreams about — a chance to play at the sport’s highest level. Dunn totaled 42 homers and hit .282 in his minor league career before making his MLB debut on June 4, 2024.

With the regular season just around the corner, all of us here with the Clippers will be rooting for Blake as he looks to continue his hot bat and make the Reds’ Opening Day roster.
