Head Coach Brian Wright

Brian Wright

The dean of area baseball coaches, this spring Brian started his 45th season as the Head Baseball Coach at Shelby High School, where he has amassed 630 career wins.  Coach Wright will be entering his 10th season as a member of the Clippers coaching staff and his first year as the Head Coach! Following an outstanding career at Grand Valley, Coach Wright began coaching high school baseball where he is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable coaches in West Michigan. In 2008 he was recognized for his impact on the game of baseball with his induction into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Coach Wright serves as a teacher in the Shelby Public School and resides there with his wife Kelly. He is the proud father of Josh (wife Sarah), Kelsey and Hannah. Also, a proud grandfather of Cari and Emma.

Pitching Coach Tristan Camp

Tristan is a native of Montgomery City, Missouri, where he was a prolific member of the Montgomery County R-II High School baseball team. He began his college baseball career at Arkansas State University before completing his undergraduate studies at Mars Hill University. He then transferred as a graduate to Crown College, where he was at the forefront of the 2024 pitching staff. He led the team to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tournament, where they won the UMAC Championship in 2024, earning a NCAA Regional appearance. He earned 1st Team All UMAC honors for his regular season performances and followed up with earning the UMAC Tournament MVP award.
 
Following his playing career, Tristan was named the Head Assistant Coach at Crown College in July of 2024. In his first year, Coach Camp was able to lead his pitching staff to a lot of success within the UMAC as they posted the second-lowest ERA in program history and ranked in the top 100 across D3 baseball in ERA, K/9, and K/BB. 
 
Tristan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Integrated Health Sciences with a minor in Exercise and Wellness Promotion. He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Sports Coaching and Administration, which he is currently slated to complete this summer in August. 

General Manager Walt Gawkowski

Walt Gawkowski

After retiring from coaching in 2021, Walt Gawkowski begins his first year as the GM of the Muskegon Clippers. A three-year letter winner at Central Michigan University, Coach Gawkowski was a member of the 1977 Mid-American Conference Championship Team. The former Chippewa outfielder earned recognition in that year as an honorable mention selection to the Mid-American All-Conference Team. In 2013, Gawkowski was inducted into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Recently retired, as an administrator at Mona Shores High School, Coach Gawkowski currently resides in Muskegon with his wife Joan. He is the proud father of two children, Amy and Annie and a proud grandfather of his three grandchildren Cece, Penny, and Sutton.
